PM Narendra Modi in Varanasi, Creates "World-Record" and Flags-off Mahamana Express

Prime Minister Modi visited his parliamentary constituency Varanasi today where he created a World-Record by distributing Aids and Assisting Devices to 9296 “Divyang” persons. He addressed a cheering crowd (with sound of “Har Har Mahadev”) and interacted with the “Divyang” persons.

PM Started his speech by paying tribute to all who have been contributing to provide better life to the “Divyang” persons. PM also talked about how Japanese PM recalled his visit to Varanasi and attending spiritual Ganga Aarti.

“At a recent speech, Japanese PM spoke about Kashi, Maa Ganga and his thoughts during the Aarti. His words will make every Indian proud. I thank Japanese PM for the kind words he said- on Kashi and on the Ganga.” – PM Narendra Modi

PM talked about how his pro poor government gets negative criticism just because he is trying to get rid of middlemen and ensuring that benefits directly reach the needy. PM told people that such negative criticism does not affect him at all. What worried him is the state of poor and he is determined to change their fate.

PM also told the people that he wanted to change the thought process by changing the way we address especially-abled people as “Divyang” instead of “Viklang”.

He added that when we say “Viklang” we look for a disability, while when we say “Divyang” we look at the special ability that they have developed to overcome the lack of certain ability.

PM also told the people that it was the duty of the society to ensure that families which have “Divyang” children are helped and supported in all ways as it is the duty of the society to take care of such children and not just the families which they are part of. He specifically told those gathered that his government is making an effort to make sure that all the government building are at least accessible for people with special abilities.
