Make in India:
  • It was Launched on 25th September 2014
  1. To make India a manufacturing hub.
  2. The major objective behind the initiative is to focus on job creation and skill enhancement in twenty-five sectors of the economy
Digital India:
  • Launched on 1st July 2015 to transform India’s economy
  • Digital India has three core components. These include:
  1. The creation of digital infrastructure
  2. Delivering services digitally
  3. Digital literacy
Skill India:
  • Launched on 15th July 2015 with the follwoing objectives
  1. To create jobs for youth of the Country
  2. Skill Development in Youth
  3. Making skill available to all youth of India
Swatch Bharat Abhiyan:
  • Launched on 2nd October 2014 to have clean India by 2nd October 2019
  1. Eliminate open defecation by constructing toilets for households, communities
  2. Eradicate manual scavenging
  3. Introduce modern and scientific municipal solid waste management practices
  4. Enable private sector participation in the sanitation sector
  5. Change people’s attitudes to sanitation and create awareness
Swadesh Darshan:
  • Integrated Development of Theme Based Buddhist tourist circuit –Under Swadesh Darshan, the following five circuits have been identified for development:-
  1. North East Circuit
  2. Buddhist Circuit
  3. Himalayan Circuit
  4. Coastal Circuit
  5. Krishna Circuit
Sukanya Samridhi Yojana:
  • The scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 22 January 2015 as a part of the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign.
  • The scheme currently provides an interest rate of 9.2% and tax benefits.
  • The account can be opened at any India Post office or a branch of some authorised commercial banks.
Bal Swachta Mission:
Bal Swachhta Mission was launched on 14 November 2014 to create awareness on cleanliness among children.  The six main themes chosen for the Bal Swachhta Mission are;
  1. Clean school and anganwadis
  2. Clean surroundings like playgrounds
  3. Clean self (personal hygiene/ child health)
  4. Clean food
  5. Clean drinking water
  6. Clean toilets.
Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY):
  • Launched on 28th August 2014 with the aim of Financial inclusion.
  1. National Mission for Financial Inclusion to ensure access to financial services, namely, Banking Savings & Deposit Accounts, Remittance, Credit, Insurance, Pension in an affordable manner
  2. Under the scheme Account holders will be provided zero-balance bank account with RuPay debit card, in addition to accidental insurance cover of Rs 1 lakh.
  3. After Six months of opening of the bank account, holders can avail Rs 5,000 loan from the bank.
Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY):
  • Launched on 9th May 2015
  1. Eligibility: Available to people in age group 18 to 70 years with bank account.
  2. Premium:12 per annum.
  3. Payment Mode: The premium will be directly auto-debited by the bank from the subscriber's account. This is the only mode available.
  4. Risk Coverage:  For accidental death and full disability – Rs.2 Lakh and for partial disability – Rs.1 Lakh.
  5. Eligibility: Any person having a bank account and Aadhaar number linked to the bank account can give a simple form to the bank every year before 1st of June in order to join the scheme.  Name of nominee to be given in the form.
Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Abhiyan:
  • It was Launched on 22nd January 2015 with  aim to generate awareness of welfare service meant for girl child and women. The objectives are
  1. Prevention of gender biased sex selective elimination.
  2. Ensuring survival and protection of the girl child.
  3. Ensuring education and participation of the Girl child
Atal Pension Yojana(APY):
  • Atal Pension Yojana was Launched on 9th May 2015
  1. It is a pension scheme which  focused on the unorganized sector workers
  2. The beneficiary should be between  the age group of 18 - 40 years and should have a savings bank account/post office account.
  3. Guaranteed minimum pension of Rs 1,000/-, 2,000/-, 3,000/-, 4,000 and 5,000/- per month will be given at the age of 60 years depending on the contributions by the subscribers.
Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY):
  • It was Launched on 9th May 2015  which is Life insurance scheme by Government of India
  1. Eligibility: Available to people in the age group of 18 to 50 and having a bank account. People who join the scheme before completing 50 years can, however, continue to have the risk of life cover up to the age of 55 years subject to payment of premium.
  2. Premium: Rs.330 per annum. It will be auto-debited in one installment.
  3. Payment Mode: The payment of premium will be directly auto-debited by the bank from the subscriber's account.
  4. Risk Coverage: Rs.2 Lakh in case of death for any reason.
  5. Terms of Risk Coverage: A person has to opt for the scheme every year. He can also prefer to give a long-term option of continuing, in which case his account will be auto-debited every year by the bank.
Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Bank Yojana:
  • It was Launched on 8th April 2015
  1. Main objective is to provide loan to small businesses
  2. The purpose of Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency (MUDRA) is to provide funding to the non corporate small business sector
  3. This scheme helps in facilitating micro credit up-to Rs. 10 lakhs to small business owners.
Krishi Amdani Bima Yojana:
  • To give an impetus to the dying agricultural practice
  • There is 14 crore hectares of agricultural land in India, of which only 44 per cent in under irrigation
  • Pradhan Mantri Gram Sinchai Yojana would be introduced so that more agricultural land is irrigated.
  • Talking about the plight of small and marginal farmers he said that most of them were leaving the agricultural practice because of the uncertainty over the produce and returns.
  • Krishi Amdani Beema Yojana so that the farmers don’t bear any financial burden if their produce gets destroyed due to unexpected weather or for any other reason.
Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY):
  • Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) has been formulated amalgamating ongoing schemes via,
  1. Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP) of Ministry of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation & Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) of Department of Land Resources;
  2. On Farm Water Management (OFWM) component of National Mission on Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA) of Department of Agriculture and Cooperation.
  3. PMKSY is to be implemented in an area development approach, adopting decentralized state level planning and projectised execution, allowing the states to draw their irrigation development plans based on district/blocks plans with a horizon of 5 to 7 years.
  4. States can take up projects based on the District/State Irrigation Plan.
Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana(DDU-GKY):
  • Launched on 25th September 2014 to provide placement linked skill development training to youth residing in rural area.
  1. DDU-GKY is a part of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM)
  2. DDU-GKY is uniquely focused on rural youth between the ages of 15 and 35 years from poor families
  3. It tasked with the dual objectives of adding diversity to the incomes of rural poor families and cater to the career aspirations of rural youth.
Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DUGJY):
  • The schemes launched to provide power(electricity) to rural area of the country with the following objectives
  1. To provide electrification to all villages
  2. Feeder separation to ensure sufficient power to farmers and regular supply to other consumers
  3. Improvement of Sub-transmission and distribution network to improve the quality and reliability of the supply
  4. Metering to reduce the losses
Indradanush Scheme:
  • Mission Indradhanush was launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India on December 25, 2014.
  1. The Mission Indradhanush, depicting seven colours of the rainbow, aims to cover all those children by 2020 who are either unvaccinated, or are partially vaccinated against seven vaccine preventable diseases which include diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, polio, tuberculosis, measles and hepatitis B.
Soil Health Card Scheme:
  • Soil Health Card Scheme is a scheme launched by the Government of India in February 2015.
  1. Under the scheme, the government plans to issue soil cards to farmers which will carry crop-wise recommendations of nutrients and fertilisers required for the individual farms to help farmers to improve productivity through judicious use of inputs.
  2. All soil samples are to be tested in various soil testing labs across the country.
  3. Thereafter the experts will analyse the strength and weaknesses (micro-nutrients deficiency) of the soil and suggest measures to deal with it.
  4. The result and suggestion will be displayed in the cards.
  5. The government plans to issue the cards to 14 crore farmers
Shyama Prasad Mukherji Rurban Mission (RURBAN Mission):
  • The Mission aims at development of rural growth clusters which have latent potential for growth, in all States and UTs, which would trigger overall development in the region.
  • These clusters would be developed by provisioning of economic activities, developing skills & local entrepreneurship and providing infrastructure amenities.
  • The Rurban Mission will thus develop a cluster of Smart Villages.
Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana:
  • The Union Cabinet has approved Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana
  1. It is a new crop insurance scheme to boost farming sector in the country.
  2. It is farmers’ welfare scheme
  3. The Scheme aims to reduce the premium burden on farmers and ensure early
Stand Up India:
  • The Stand up India Scheme is being launched to promote entrepreneurship among people from schedule caste/schedule tribe and woman who will be provided loans starting from Rs 10 lakhs to Rs 100 lakhs.
  • Composite loan between Rs 10 lakh and upto Rs 1 crore will be provided to entrepreneurs for setting up new enterprise.
  • Debit Card (RuPay) for withdrawal of working capital.
Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday Abhiyan:
  • The ‘Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday Abhiyan’ began on April 14 from Mhow in Madhya Pradesh, on the occasion of 125th birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday Abhiyan aims to:
  1. Improve rural livelihoods and promote rural development
  2. Strengthen the Panchayati Raj across the country
  3. Increase ‘social harmony’
  4. Create Awareness – information regarding agriculture schemes will be shared
  5. Foster farmers’ progress
Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojana:
  • It is a Scheme for Providing Free LPG connections to Women from BPL Households.
  1. Under the scheme, Rs 8000 crore has been earmarked for providing five crore LPG connections to BPL households.
  2. The Scheme provides a financial support of Rs 1600 for each LPG connection to the BPL households.
  3. The identification of eligible BPL families will be made in consultation with the State Governments and the Union Territories.
  4. This Scheme would be implemented over three years, namely, the FY 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19.
Ganga Gram Yojana:
  • The Union Minister of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Ms. Uma Bharti launched Ganga Gram Yojana in Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh (UP).Under the scheme, 1600 villages of UP situated along the banks of river Ganga will be  developed.
  1. In the first phase of the programme, 200 villages have been selected initially.
  2. In these villages, open drains falling into river Ganga will be diverted and alternative arrangements for sewage treatment will be made.
  3. The villages will have toilets in every household.
  4. It is proposed to incur the expenditure of 1 crore rupees on every village.
Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana:
  • This scheme intends to provide houses for all people in the rural area
  1. Under this scheme, incentive will be given by the government to build Pucca house
  2. Financial assistance of 1,20,000 in plain areas and 1,30,000 in hill areas will be given to all houseless and people those who live in dilapidated houses
  3. The scheme proposes to build 1 crore houses in the year 2016-17  to 2018-19
  4. The cost will be shared between the centre and states in the ratio of 60:40 in plain areas
  5. For north eastern and Hilly areas, the ratio will be 90:10
  6. The total fund allotted for 2017-19 is 81795 crores
The beneficiary is entitled to 90 days of unskilled labour from MGNREGA. This will be ensured through a server linkage between PMAY and MGNREGA.

Swadhar Greh scheme-Special Home for Widows:
  • The Union Minister for Women & Child Development initiated a project of construction of a special Home for 1000 widows at Vrindavan, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh.
  • It has been set up under the “Swadhar Greh Scheme” of the WCD Ministry.
  • Outlay – Rs.57 Crores (including cost of the land)
  • The shelter Home at Vrindavan has a capacity to house 1000 women and is being constructed on 1.424 hectare of land through National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC).
  • The design of the Home has been prepared in consultation with Helpage India.

Adarsh Gram Jayapur Development : Backward Village becomes a Model Village

On 7th November 2014 Narendra Modi had adopted Jayapur village situated in the Varanasi Parliamentary constituency under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana. One year on this village which used to be devoid of basic/fundamental facilities, is ready to greet everyone in the form of a model village.


“In reality, through Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana Parliamentarians are not adopting villages, but it is the villages that have adopted/embraced the parliamentarians. We all have to direct our efforts to create model villages.”-PM Narendra Modi


Jayapur village – A Profile
30% of the inhabitants of this village are farmers, 20% work as farmhands in the fields. 34.1% of the population are engaged in some form of work. Literacy rate in Uttar Pradesh is 53% against the national figure of 73%, but literacy rate in Jayapur stands at 73%. For every 100 males, there are 62 literate females. Jayapur’s male-female sex ratio is much improved than Uttar Pradesh’s male-female sex ratio. Village Head  Durga Devi despite being educated till the 8th standard, takes active participation in promoting cleanliness and also urges the village folk to send their girl child to school.
Here are some information related to the development work in the past 14 Months, along with some pictures to illustrate the same:
o    3 nationalized bank branches have been opened in Jayapur village after being adopted by PM.
o    Daily cleanliness drive ( Sunil Singh and Rahul Singh guide the youth to promote cleanliness on a daily basis)
o    Daily Yoga and Medical camps ( to educate the people about Ayurveda, an Ayurvedic medic Rajkumar has been conducting health camps since 11th March)

o    “Gaushala” construction work completed; primary school powered with the help of solar power; railway reservation centre established; smart classes supported by New Zealand’s CDI have started functioning; as CSR initiative digital classes have been launched in the primary schools
o    Post office has been established including supporting services such as speed post and insurance.
o    400 youth have been registered for the purpose of employment by the handicrafts department. 300 youths received employment via Rojgaar Mela held in February First Week.
o    Life- Insurance Corporation of India office has been established, 16 bio-toilets have been constructed.
o    Forest dwellers’ locality has got a complete make over with model houses being built for 16 forest dwellers’ families. The houses have all the basic modern amenities.
o    In the Dalit locality statue of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar has been put up. 5 Aaanganvadi Kendra established.


o    Atal Nagar: On Poarch Road, a temple along with a garden nearby has been constructed. Houses with toilets, washing room, kitchen as well as a big room have also been built.
o    Beautification of the school building, along with the introduction of higher education in the girl’s school. 5 fans were installed along with a hand pump in the Primary School.
o    Aadhar card and Jan-Dhan accounts were opened for all the villagers.
o    Women Centre and Skill development centre are soon to be established
o    200 Solar Lights installed. For students a free coaching centre has also been set up.
o    A new tradition- to plant 5 trees on the birth of a girl- has also started. Also, the day of establishment of the village is to be celebrated.

o    A State Bank of India branch is operating in the village. Also, with the opening of a solar powered bank branch by the Union Bank, crop loan worth more than 35 lakh has been approved within 2 weeks.
o    Workshops on organic farming have been organised weekly. (Agri-clinics have been opened to teach the farmers the benefits of organic farming as well as the harmful effects of pesticides to the soil.)
o    100 apple plants of special category presented by the PM have been planted.
o    Addiction –free drives are taken out to promote awareness against various forms of addictions. An Ayurvedic Hospital has also been proposed.
o    Pipeline is being laid to set up the drinking water pump facility; also two plants to make cement bricks have been constructed.
o    For travelers’ convenience, waiting shelters as well as resting places with benches have been set up.


o    For working women travelling up to “Rajatalaab” Bazaar, transport service has taken off. Jyoti, is the first female bus driver from this village along with her friend Varsha, who happens to be the bus conductor. 18 women from the village have been given training to operate bus service between the village and Rajatalaab. Village men also operate bus services.
o     Computerized sub-post office is successfully operational; a post office already existed in the village.
o    Jayapur is the first village in the state to be illuminated completely by solar power. There are 2 solar plant of 25 kilowatt power each.
o    Modern waiting rooms have been set up. A foundation for an overhead tank of 2 lakh litre capacity, a pump as well as the supply pipeline has been laid.

o    After creating a nursery for medicinal plants, preparations are being made for setting up an orchard full of improved varieties of fruits. After planting 200 Aloe vera plants, Tulsi and Kalmegh plants have also been planted.
o     A Rural Knowledge Centre has been set up which not only has a library but also has information available on all issues related to village folk and farmers.
o    A girl’s school along with an air- conditioned “Aanganbaadi centre” for women and children have been set up. (the Aanganbaadi centre has been constructed using earthquake resistant technology, where even if there is no current, provision has been made for proper light and fresh air circulation to continue.)



o    Water availability: in every house a pipeline of 2.5 inch is being constructed that will supply water from the tank present in the village itself. 4 mini tube wells are being set up the boring for 2 of them have been completed. One such tube well will supply water to 150 village households.
o    Toilets are constructed outside every house.
o    two plants of 25 KW capacity (each) are already in function. These two plants are giving free electricity to 720 families of the village. One such power plant provides solar power to 250 houses for 24 hours, free for 25 years.
o    A 3 km road connecting the main entrance of the village to the Dalit colony has been completed.
o    With the help of Carpet Export Promotion Council two weaving centers have been set up, and arrangements for the finished products to reach national and international markets have been made.
o    Visitors to the model village Jayapur includes 3 officials from a British Company-First State Investment, few students from Italy and a 10 member group including doctors , engineers and industrialists.


o    A group of American journalists have visited Jayapur village to study the development work and life style of the village. Also officials from a motorbike company have visited the village.
o     BHU and Kashi Vidyapeeth students have contributed in opening up an e library encouraging womenfolk of the village to utilise computer facilities. A free computer training centre under National Digital Literacy Mission has also been inaugurated.
o    With the help of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana 70% of the village youth will be provided employment by the Ministry of Rural Development.
o    To empower women, and to make them self-sufficient, a tailoring training center (free) has been opened. Presently, 2 batches are being trained, comprising 30 women. The centre will be expanded soon to include more trainees.



o    About 810 families of PM Narendra Modi’s adopted village – Jayapur – in Varanasi will get electricity free of cost. PM Modi’s adopted village is all set to become India’s first Green Solar Energy village as Welspun Energy Limited is providing free solar energy panels to all the houses of the village.
o    Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s adopted village ‘Jayapur’ in his Varanasi parliamentary constituency is now a Wi-Fi Hotspot. Free wi-fi services started in Jayapur village — Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Uttar Pradesh (East) Circle chief general manager (CGM) H R Shukla
o    LED Bulb distribution in 645 homes of Jayapur.

Saansad Adarsh Gram - Chikhli (Surat) - 1 Year Development

Creating Model Village for Transforming "Swaraj" into "Su-Raj"

Aadarsh Gram Chikhli is a Village in Navsari district in the state of Gujarat, India. Chikhli comes under the purview of Surat Metropolitan Region.

Chikhli is the smallest city in the region of South Gujarat. About 25 km north from the city of Valsad city and about 10 km east from the city and rail junction of Bilimora, Chikhli is on the Indian National Highway 8, from where state highways reaching Ahwa via Waghai and Vansda, and to the hill station of Saputara bifurcate.

Nearest railway station is Chikhli Road railway station on the Bilimora - Vaghai narrow gauge line. Approx. 6 km from Chikhli. It has small river i.e. Kaveri & it is going to be a good market place for nearer villages.


As of 2001 India census, Chikhli had a population of 6953. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Chikhli has an average literacy rate of 81%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 85% and female literacy of 76%. 10% of the population is under 6 years of age.


Mallikarjun Temple, An old temple of lord Shiva is situated on bank of a seasonal lake in a village Majigam (1/2 km from Chikhli). This site is famous for a shooting of a legendary film Mother India starring Sunil Dutt, Raj Kumar and Nargis which was also nominated for Oscars as one of the first Indian movie of Bollywood. Also Famous for Jalaram na Khaman.

  • English Medium Schools shall be set up and education facility up-to college shall be made easily accessible.
